THE INDIAN IN FRONTIER NEWS, (This book may be purchased by following this link.)
Elmer Kelton's non-fiction book is a product of his intensive research of original newspapers and periodicals of the 1800's on news about the Indian in local western newspapers. A viewpoint long-lost to the modern reader is presented.

Looking Back West (This Book is now out of print.) Elmer Kelton presents the "Winning of the West" in a capsuled panorama of key highlights dating back to the Civil War. In the 14 chapters of the book the Old West is detailed from Texas Union supporters in the Civil war time to the organizing of the Rough Riders by Teddy Roosevelt in San Antonio in 1898.
